How to spot clean urine from your mattress

Time is of the essence here so hurry up and treat it as soon as possible. We're a cleaning service here in Orange County with years of experience and would love to share our insight and expertise.

To spot clean a urine stain on a mattress, you will need the following supplies:

  1. A clean, white cloth or sponge
  2. Cold water
  3. Mild detergent, such as dish soap or upholstery cleaner
  4. Baking soda
  5. White vinegar

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Begin by blotting the stain with a clean, white cloth or sponge to absorb as much of the urine as possible.

  2. Mix a small amount of mild detergent with cold water, and use the solution to gently scrub the stain. Be sure to use a gentle motion and avoid rubbing the stain too hard, as this can damage the fabric of the mattress.

  3. Rinse the area with cold water, and blot it dry with a clean cloth.

  4. If the stain is still visible, sprinkle baking soda over the area and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. This will help to absorb any remaining odors.

  5. After the baking soda has had a chance to work, use a clean, white cloth or sponge to blot away any excess baking soda.

  6. To neutralize any remaining odors, mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Mist the solution over the stain, and blot it dry with a clean cloth.

  7. Allow the mattress to air dry completely before replacing the sheets and bedding.

It is important to act quickly when dealing with a urine stain, as the longer the urine remains on the mattress, the harder it will be to remove. With a little patience and some basic cleaning supplies, you should be able to successfully spot clean the stain and remove any odors. Worst case give us a call for all your mattress cleaning needs in Orange County. We can't guarantee that this will 100% remove the stain but it's worth attempting it.
